The Center for Architecture and Design had a modest beginning in 2015 as a Department of Dr. Kaipparedan College for Rural Development, Planning & Management to provide educational opportunity for students who wanted to specialize in rural, urban and regional planning.
With this new status, the Center had broadened its horizon by introducing new academic and extension programs and promoting consultancy activities. The Center is a specialized department of Dr. Kaipparedan College for Rural Development, Planning & Management, and exclusively provides training at diploma level, in different aspects of human habitat and environment. The center has taken lead in introducing academic programs at diploma level in the fields of Architecture and Design, some of which are even today not available elsewhere in India. The Center, in striving for excellence, has always been in the lead in extending education and research to new frontiers of knowledge. Human habitat and environment being the basic concern of the Center, the spectrum of academic programs is being continuously extended by providing short term and crash programs in new fields and emerging areas for which facilities are not available, as yet, anywhere else in the country.
The current residential Campus and Hostel campus is located at Elakkadu, near Kuravilangadu in Kottayam, Kerala. A site of 5 acres has been acquired East of Kuravilangadu by the school for developing a new campus exclusively for Center for Architecture and Design
